How About a FREE Race? The Hyundai Accent Run: An All-New Way to Play

Yes, you read it right, an absolutely 100% FREE Race!  The first one in a very long time, brought to us by Hyundai.

From the media release:

Realizing that cars, people, and the planet can thrive and coexist in one dynamic and sustainable biodiversity, Hyundai Asia Resources, Incorporated (HARI), the authorized distributor of Hyundai automobiles in the Philippines and a leading manufacturer of eco-environmental cars today, calls in all impassioned university students and eco-warriors to join in on its endearing drive for a green tomorrow.

Declaring a new collective advocacy for a greener and more progressive future, HARI will lead the first-ever automotive-sponsored eco-fun run in the country dubbed “The Hyundai Accent Run: An All-New Way to Play” on April 2, 2011 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, converging hundreds of students from Metro Manila’s topmost universities and nature buffs alike in one youth-oriented movement to increase awareness about eco-motoring and promote the companies’ nationwide advocacy for a cleaner and environmentally-stable future.

Envisioned to create a fresh new generation of responsible motorists among the country’s future leaders, the Hyundai Accent Run makes a daring shift of perspective about the auto industry, instilling in the minds of the youth the possibility that even a car company can also make a positive impact on the environment through its long-term partnership with Haribon Foundation, one of the nation’s most active environmental group and through its newly-launched fuel-efficient compact sedan, the All-New Hyundai Accent.

Driving a green vision through reforestation
Striving to make a green difference in the highly-mechanical world of automotives, HARI veers towards the road to environmentalism and partners with Haribon to pace up to the group’s “1 Million Hectares of Rainforests by 2020” advocacy. Starting with reforestation initiatives in different parts of the country, last year saw its first tree-planting activities at the Yapak forest in Boracay and in Cavinti, Laguna to help sow the first seeds of its green mission for a better tomorrow.

This time, adding a new twist of play and mobility to give its eco-environmental efforts a much more exciting motoring identity, HARI sets its newest green activity at the lifestyle landscapes of Bonifacio Global City to bring together Metro Manila’s youngest leaders and eco-enthusiasts in one all-out force to saving the country’s ecosystem.

5K route (10K is two loops of this route)

The Hyundai Accent Run is not just any other ordinary racing activity as it is the first running challenge to be sponsored by an automotive company to drive the Filipino community towards green motoring. Creating the newest generation of caretakers of Mother Earth, the Hyundai Accent Run makes it possible for college students and green thumbs to play a crucial role in the nation’s conservation efforts, providing them the opportunity to donate one (1) tree seedling per runner for the reforestation of many of the Philippine’s critical land areas that are being continuously denuded by natural and man-made causes.

Exemplifying HARI’s progressive stance for a cleaner environment, participants will get to partake in two (2) race mileages during the running activity––a 5-kilometer race for casual sprinters and a 10-kilometer route for more experienced racers––advancing a new era of eco-conscious motorists among the country’s future leaders.

Leading the fast-paced future with eco-motoring
Amplifying further the excitement and eco-friendliness of the Hyundai Accent Run, HARI will also feature seven (7) recreational booths called Playlist Zones based on seven (7) of the newest and most pro-nature features installed in the All-New Accent, such as its highly fuel-efficient Gamma CVVT petrol powerhouse, aerodynamic coupe profile, and standard safety conveniences that would surely capture the interest of the young driving market.

Hyundai’s lineup of best-of-breed automobiles will also serve as main attractions during the fun run, reinforcing Hyundai’s green stance with eco-friendly attributes and performances installed in all its technologies.  Available for test drives are: the nifty and utilitarian i10 compact car, the powerful yet fuel-flexible Tucson SUV, the fluidic Sonata luxury sedan, the CRDi-powered Grand Starex Limousine, the nimble Genesis Coupe sports car, and the durable Santa Fe Crossover Utility Vehicle.

“Wow!” I’d say that the new Accent is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor (I had my eyes on it for quite a while now)… and after the race you may test drive it along with other vehicles on show!

Since eco-consciousness drives along the lanes of security and stability, the Hyundai Fun Run will also underscore HARI’s high regard for safety by featuring its Car Wellness Campaign right beside the racing site.  Highlighting proper vehicle maintenance and good car care habits, Hyundai’s Best C.A.R.E. (Cordial, Accurate, Reliable, Efficient) and speedy service and Genuine Parts and Accessories will surely deliver HARI’s concern not only for the environment, but also the people who drive a Hyundai.

Road safety awareness activities will also be available during the Hyundai Fun Run to help mould the youth to become safe and responsible drivers.  Free seminars and workshops will be conducted to teach young students the meaning and significance of various road signs, markings, rules, and motoring courtesy.

A free race inclusive with a free singlet, wow!

Registration to the Hyundai Fun Run is FREE and will run from March 1 to 23, 2011 at select university campuses in Metro Manila.  Register online at http://www.hyundaifunrun.com/.  For more race info or updates on registration dates and venues, add us on Facebook at “Hyundai Fun-Run.”
