Third Running Anniversary Run at Run United 2

Run United 2 was of dire importance to me because it would serve as my third anniversary race!  I can’t believe it’s already been three years since my debut race, and from that race of less than a thousand participants, my most recent race swelled to a staggering 14,000 attendees!

Lotsa medals, none of them mine 😦

Lusso.

With rains pouring in on our long weekend, some of the best things to do are stay indoors and eat good food—slow down and appreciate the things around us.  Every once in a while, it’s nice to savor the finer luxuries in life, and for me one of those luxuries I enjoy most are food.

Thelma

Finally, a local film inspired by our beloved sport, running!  This movie is entitled “Thelma” and is inspired by the stories of true Filipino athletes who were discovered in the province, and fought their way to represent the Philippines in the world stage.

“Many people run away from their problems, she ran to fix them.”

“Thelma” is the first full-length feature film production of Time Horizon Pictures and is directed by film and TV-commercial director Paul Soriano.  It is the story of a simple young girl from the province—Thelma (played by Maja Salvador) whose family is beset with challenges when she discovers her uncanny gift of speed.  Her talent then opens doors for her—to elevate her family’s situation and change the course of her own life.  But to do that she will have to run—against all obstacles, against personal hindrances, against shadows from her past, and against her own self-doubts.

The Joy of Running in the Rain

This is probably the only way I can describe the video below, scenes from the 35th National MILO® Marathon Manila Eliminations.  I posted it here to motivate me (and hopefully, others) whenever rain pours on my (our) runs.  Too bad I missed the water therapy. 🙂

All Work, No Play

In a perfect world, or at least in an ideal world, we’d be able to do all the things we love.  But in the real world there are those times when we sometimes have to skip the things we want in order to do the things that we have to—and for many of us, it’s known as work.
