It seems that Filipinos are becoming more conscious about what they put in their mouths as healthier food choices are coming into the local scene, and now a popular name in California when it comes to smoothies, juices, and more had just arrived in the country—Jamba Juice!
I’ve been lucky to be invited by the Max’s Group of Companies to the launch of Jamba Juice’s pioneer Southeast Asia store at the newly constructed extension of Bonifacio High Street (also known as BHS Central) last November 10, 2011, a day before its public opening.
I admit I was not familiar with the brand, but one need not do to appreciate how great their blends are! I was introduced with their Banana Berry smoothie and it was love at first taste! It contains bananas, blueberries, apple-strawberry juice, raspberry sherbet, and nonfat frozen yogurt which is about 2 ½ servings of fruits (based on 16 fl. oz.). Aside from being delicious and healthy, I love how “smooth” their smoothie is! No “icebergs” around.
What sets Jamba Juice apart from other similar juice or smoothie bars is that they have interesting blends that’s not your usual insert-fruit-name-here shake. They put together fruits that when combined creates surprising tastes. As someone who doesn’t always have enough fruit servings I love their All Fruit smoothies with 3 ½ servings of fruit (I got to try Five Fruit Frenzy which contained blueberries, mangoes, strawberries, bananas, peaches, mixed berry juice, and peach juice). They also have blends with boosts for energy, immunity, vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, and protein. And aside from smoothies and fresh squeezed juices, Jamba Juice also offers fruit and yogurt parfaits, slow-cooked oatmeal, wraps, and flat bread (kind of like a pizza).
I like the fact that whatever your lifestyle is, there’s bound to be at least one “perfect” blend for you. Personally I love anything with good fruit servings after a good run, and I think their Protein Berry Workout would be my post-gym regimen. I also like that their location in BHS Central is pretty accessible so I need not run far from the usual BGC race activity area, but I sure hope that they do put up more branches so that more people like me would be Jamba-fied!
