A Trip to the Chiropractor at InterCare Makati

I have never been to a chiropractor before because honestly, I don’t know what it was exactly for, but when I had the chance to try it out at InterCare (Makati) I didn’t think twice and found out what it was all about.

Kinda look like what I underwent at InterCare Makati (Courtesy InterCare)

From my perspective, if there’s massage for muscles, there’s chiropractic treatment for bones.  If you’re active, you know that there are times that massages don’t just cut it.  And since muscles are attached to bones, it’s only fitting that every once in a while, we also focus on our bones.  They don’t exactly always stay put in places their supposed to.

From www.intercare-centers.com:

Bone and muscle problems can hit all sorts of people.  Young and old, physically fit or not.  Sitting behind desks or weekends can cause stress, tension, over exertion and a number of other factors that can cause displacement in the spine.  These may cause irritations to the nerves around it.  That can cause various malfunctions in the body from pain related to the low back and even headaches and migraines.  Through Chiropractic treatment, a natural, drugless branch of the healing arts, conditions that affect our bones and muscles, ligaments and cartilage, and even the nerves are treated.  This age old method also costs less than some conventional modes of treatment.

Martin G. Camara, D.C., InterCare’s Clinic Director, was part of a Chiropractic expert panel for the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) Consultation on Chiropractic—Milan, Italy, 2004

I didn’t have any injuries or problems coming into the clinic, but that should not prevent me from having a chiropractic treatment.  I don’t really run as often as I used to, but I regularly lift weights at the gym so it’s inevitable to have some bones “out of place.”

The entire process takes only about 15 to 20 minutes, but it feels just as good as having a much longer massage!  I was surprised of so many places my bones needed realignment!  I especially loved it when my therapist “fixed” my neck—I was a bit nervous at first since it was a very delicate part (my life was literally in his hands!) but I came out of it safe and relaxed.  It’s one of the best ways to spend 15 or so minutes!

To those who avoid having massages because of being ticklish or are uncomfortable with showing skin, fear not as it doesn’t tickle since bones are the focus, and you only have to take off your shoes.

Chiropractic treatment is just the tip of the iceberg of the services that InterCare offers.  They also offer acupuncture, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, myotherapy, rehabilitative medicine, sports medicine, stress management, pilates, optogait analysis, etc. and they have branches in Makati, Greenhills, and Alabang.

What I had was a complimentary session and chances are rates have changed since then. Contact InterCare for their rates as prices vary depending on the service you’re availing.
