What can ₱50 buy you? In SM Makati, that’s enough for a Yakiudon! Quite unbelievable indeed, but what gives?
I was going to the supermarket section of SM Makati when I saw a little poster stating Yakiudon for ₱50. That is such an unbelievable price, especially in a mall, so one time I was back in the area and I had some time to kill, I decided to give it a try.
I didn’t set any expectations as the price is only ₱50 so I was open to any surprises. And surprise, surprise! The serving size didn’t even reach halfway of the bowl! They should’ve probably used a smaller bowl to make it less obvious. Anyway, as the “Lucky Me!” part of the store’s name would suggest, the products are based on the instant Yakiudon of Lucky Me! A single serving is basically a single pack but ingredients were added so there’s more variety from the standard serving. Pretty clever, don’t you think so?
I opted for the Stir Fried Udon and I’d say the taste is pretty good, albeit you can tell it’s basically all coming from the flavorings. There were some added meatball-like item in it so it’s not that bland, but it’s a bit deceptive from the photo where some other ingredients were shown. Overall, for ₱50 it’s a cheap and decent snack!
