O-M-G! Self-lacing shoes are really here! Just as predicted by the movie Back to the Future II (1989) (or inversely, as inspired by the movie)! Here it is, the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0:
While this news isn’t really brand new (it’s been previewed by Nike last March 16), there’s no denying that this is quite an exciting innovation! This technological marvel is expected to arrive towards the end of this year (November 28!) so it’s only a few more months before we actually get to see the real thing!
It sure doesn’t look like what Marty McFly was wearing on October 21, 2015 in the movie (Nike actually released the Mag in 2011, sans self-lacing tech), but personally I think this one looks better. Because of the LED indicators. 😝

I have a lot of questions about the practicality and necessity of this shoe, but hey, isn’t it cool that we’re actually meeting the expectations of our current world from the ‘80s? We still don’t have a real hoverboard (you know, those boards that look like skateboards without wheels and float off the ground and even water) but at least we have self-lacing shoes in 2016 (missing the mark by a year). And we have smart phones that they weren’t able to predict, so I guess we’re on a good track?
Hope to see and, with any luck, try this pair this Christmas season! 😍
