The North Face teams up with the Philippine National Climbing Team for 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Founded over 50 years ago, The North Face has inspired countless individuals to conquer the ordinary.  From its extensive line of high-quality outdoor gears and equipment to its steadfast dedication to nurture outdoor sporting communities across the world, The North Face has certainly come to play a key function in humanity’s never-ending pursuit for adventure and athletic excellence.

As part of its efforts to empower outdoor sporting communities across borders, The North Face is more than thrilled to announce its recently-forged partnership with the Philippine National Climbing Team (PNCT).  To officially establish its newfound role as a key sponsor for the country’s national team for climbing, an exclusive media event was held last June 13 at the R.O.X. Bonifacio High Street in BGC.

Among those who were present at the launch were representatives from the media, TNF athletes as well as select influencers who all share an equal passion for outdoor sports.  During the program, guests were able to meet the athletes who are set to represent the country in the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics along with their Team Coach and likewise witness the official awarding of the Certificate of Partnership.

Forging world-class athletes

During the program, The North Face Philippines shared the motivation behind the brand’s commitment to support the country’s national climbing team.  As one of the official partners of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, The North Face teamed up with the country’s national climbing team with several goals in mind.

For one, the pressure is at its peak for the PNCT especially since only three representatives from Asia can qualify for a spot at the Olympics.  In equipping the PNCT with the most cutting-edge gears and equipment, The North Face seeks to empower the team in their journey to the Olympics and in the process, spark hope among young athletes who are aspiring for international athletics.  Moreover, the partnership between The North Face and the PNCT is also expected to promote the growth of sport climbing in the Philippines as well as develop more outdoor climbing areas throughout the country.

Backed by the Sport Climbing Association of the Philippines, a non-stock, non-profit National Sports Association dedicated to the promotion of Sport Climbing in the Philippines, the PNCT currently boasts of a team which consists of 15 daring athletes who have spent the last few years gaining experience competing and excelling in competitions both here and abroad.  Under the guidance of coaches Miel Pahati and Jao Sauco, both of whom are former athletes of the PNCT, the athletes of the PNCT are emboldened to make their mark in the global climbing scene at the upcoming Olympic Games especially now that The North Face has vowed to support their team from training all the way to competition season.

Gearing up for the Olympics

As the upcoming Tokyo Olympics marks an iconic milestone for being the first-ever Olympic Games to host the Rock Climbing category, it is essential for all competing athletes to be decked out in apparel, gears, and equipment that will enhance and improve their overall performance.  In line with this, The North Face rolls out with the “No Days Off” campaign.  As the campaign slogan implies, The North Face advocates a no-excuses attitude when it comes to training as it introduces a series of collections that will enable outdoor explorers to move without restriction in any time and any given environment.

Designed to withstand the most grueling outdoor training programs, the all-new Terra Metro Series features a selection of outdoor training clothes that combine high-tech performance, innovative materials, and pioneering aesthetics.  The collection includes the Terra Metro Supa Stretch Jacket and the Terra Metro Lite Tights which are made with elastic woven knitted fabric with Lycra yarn to achieve maximum comfortability and light-weight sensibilities.

Conceived with the idea of combining lightness and superior protection, The North Face unlocks a new dimension in outdoor training innovation in the Flight Series.  The line features the brand’s most advanced running apparel collection such as the Men’s Flight RKT jacket, Flight Better Than Naked T-Shirt, and the Flight Better Than Naked Shorts for both men and women.

Apart from apparel, the “No Days Off” campaign also carries a premium assortment of footwear and accessories that are equally meant to live up to harshest training sessions like the Ultra Endurance II, a series of versatile trail running shoes that will deliver stable rides and unparalleled traction thanks to its TPU toe tip, Vibram Megagrip, Xtrafoam, and Fastfoam features.

To top it all off, The North Face offers outdoor training accessories that prove essential to the most committed outdoor athlete’s training attire.  These include the Flight Race backpacks, Better Than Naked hat and visor, head wear, protective sleeve, and trail running compression socks.

Whether to be used in training for the Olympics or for conquering one’s personal athletic limits, the newly-launched outdoor training and trail running collections under The North Face’s “No Days Off” campaign will surely boost performance and allow for utmost freedom of movement, anytime and anywhere.
