ありがとう、東京!

Thank you, Tokyo!  Thank you for pushing through the Olympics despite all the challenges of our times.  It gave a lot of people a chance to think of something else aside from the pandemic and a range of emotions as we watched our athletes compete.  It also brought a lot of joy to my country, the Philippines, as we had our best Olympics ever!

If only the circumstances were different, we would’ve been with you, watching the events together with spectators from other countries.  Alas, that’s not the case and that’s why we’re grateful that you opted to continue—even if it took another year!  One day hopefully, I get to fulfill my dream of visiting you in person.

The Tokyo Olympics is officially closed and I can only “watch” it from photos and video clips shared online.  It boggles my mind how they did that particular scene where particles flowed into the stadium and eventually formed the Olympic rings as all the images I’ve seen are from the same angle or screenshots—was it augmented reality?  Nonetheless, it’s really, really cool and got some mystic vibe into it.

Not everything is over though!  The Paralympic Games will start on August 25 until September 05, 2021.
