In light of running events getting postponed or cancelled over concerns around public gathering, I decided to sign-up for a virtual run. After all these years of running, this would actually be my first!
And for my first ever virtual run, I’ve signed up for the Star Wars Virtual Run 2020. This year is the 40th anniversary of the movie “STAR WARS: The Empire Strikes Back” so I guess it’s more special? I’ve always wanted to join a Star Wars running event and this would be the closest I could get, for now, to joining one.
I signed up for the 40K distance which according to the rules can be done in one session, cumulative during the event period, or split with a buddy. I’m really glad that this is the case as I wouldn’t have the endurance to run the entire 40K by May the fourth! Haven’t planned how I’d distribute the distance, but it’s a challenge that I’m looking forward to complete.
For Philippine residents, the total cost for signing up for the 40K run is ₱1,573.20 (inclusive of the 3.5% admin fee, or ₱53.20) which should include shipping of your finisher entitlements, though not sure if it’s further subject to customs fees (we’ll see, hopefully not).
For those who prefer shorter distances, they also have a 5.4K event but you’ll be missing out on the gold Darth Vader trophy. Running period is from May 4th to May 31st so if you have time, I encourage you to take the 40K instead.
To be clear, this is not a sponsored post but as a fan of Star Wars and running, I’m sharing this for those who might be interested. You may sign-up for the event here.
