Dried Mango Chronicles: Cebu City Marathon 2012

Cebu City Marathon 2011 holds my record for my fastest marathon so breaking my course record would also mean a new personal best—what a pressure!  On a lighter note, merely completing CCM will finally take me across my first 3,000 kilometers.  Will I be able to break my previous record, or will I just break a leg?  That’s what went through my mind, and this was what went on with the race.

Dried Mango Chronicles: Kublai Khan and the Day before Cebu City Marathon

One of my most eagerly awaited event to jumpstart my year has arrived, the Cebu City Marathon.  Flying in on a Saturday afternoon gave me just enough time to claim my kit, do my last grocery shopping, and eat all I can—wait, uhm, yeah, eat all I can!

Departing from NAIA Terminal 3: We used the sky bridge which led us down to a bus: “Riding a bus. More fun in the Philippines.”

Lucky 9 at Cebu Marathon

It was the ninth day of the New Year, and it was my ninth marathon.  I’ve heard wonders about the previous Cebu Marathon, so this year I decided to find out for my own and do some “assessment run,” but I got much more than I had expected.

Flash Update: Cebu Marathon Results

Cebu City Marathon has just concluded and I’m glad to inform you that a Filipina, Mona Liza Ambasa, reigned supreme over her Kenyan challengers.  Her winning time was 3:14:51.  On the men’s side though the Kenyans had their revenge by sweeping the top 3 spot.  The winning time was 2:34:58 set by Benjamin Kipkazi.
