After a long time of hiatus from joining races, I finally got back. And it was Salomon XTrail Run that got me back on my feet for my first race of the year. I can’t say no when Salomon invited me, and I can’t miss the chance of running in one of my favorite places…

Highlights of 2013
2013 is one interesting but very challenging year for me. I’ve had lots of ups and downs, but looking back I can’t say that I have any regrets. And if I had to pick just 10 as highlights of my year, this list would be it. In no particular order, they are:
Extraordinary Cavinti
A few weeks ago, this little known place in Laguna called Cavinti held its first organized trail race. Until this race, I’ve never heard of this place. And after this race, Cavinti is a place I won’t soon forget.
Running with “Walkers” at St. Peter Midnight Run
Halloween. For the first time, I’m doing a Halloween race on a Halloween night itself. And for the first time, I’ve attended a Halloween race where practically everyone is in costume. It’s going to be a “thrilling” night.
Rexona Run 2013: Ran to the Beat, Beat the Sun and Beat Myself
It was another sleepless race. A half marathon starting at 3AM. That’s got to be the earliest 21K I joined that I can remember. You’d have to sleep before sundown if you were to get a good sleep before the race.

Running in Siargao: Siargao It Up Half Marathon
It is one of the most popular destination sites in the Philippines, included in the list of “Destinations to watch in 2013” by Condé Nast Traveller, and considered eighth in the “World’s 50 best surf spots” by CNN Travel. It’s Siargao! Now it’s opening up its roads for runners with the Siargao It Up Half Marathon.
Top Five Most Recommended Races in the Philippines
The Philippines, particularly Metro Manila, is just a haven for races as there’s always at least one practically every weekend. But amongst all of these races, there are some that stood out, and here are five that I highly recommend. #5: Corregidor Marathon A race set on the historic island fortress of Corregidor, Corregidor Marathon…
Top Five Dream Destination Races
I consider myself a “recreational runner” in the sense that I incorporate running into my lifestyle because aside from its health benefits, it’s fun! I don’t do it as a profession, for prestige or bragging rights, or anything remotely in that direction. As such, I do have a very long list of dream destination races…
Top Five Most Interesting Races in Metro Manila
Races come and go and with the number of races happening in Metro Manila it’s quite difficult for one to stand out. But every once in a while there are those that goes beyond the norm and gives us that extra mile sort of speak. Here are my top five picks of the most interesting…
Mythical Five: Five Years of Running
August 17, 2008—five years ago when yours truly got introduced to running, and the rest as they say, is history. And instead of my usual nostalgic thoughts about that milestone, I thought of sharing some information that may be useful to other runners out there. And because it’s my fifth running anniversary, I didn’t just thought of sharing a list of five items I liked—I’m sharing five lists of five items each!
