Run United HP Recovery Run

Run United for the first time is introducing a “recovery run” exclusively for all the finishers of this year’s Run United 1, 2, and Philippine Marathon (RUPM) series.  Dubbed Run United HP Recovery Run, this “race” is strictly non-competitive as there will not be any prizes (aside from the post-race giveaways) and everyone is encouraged to take it “easy.”  Here are the event particulars:

Product Review: Unilab Active Health Sports Gel

(Update: This product has been discontinued) To those running long distances (usually half marathons or longer) energy gels serve as a very convenient source of nutrition: they don’t spoil easily, comes in a minimal packaging, and provide an energy boost without needing to chew.  All brands available in the local market is imported, until now, as Unilab introduced the first Philippine-made energy gel simply known as Active Health Sports Gel.

Featured Race: Run United Philippine Marathon (RUPM)

The Run United Trilogy were really meant as training grounds for those aiming to run longer distances, but this year the trilogy went even further by staging their own “holy grail” of running events, forty two kilometers and a hundred ninety five meters of road—a full marathon!  And it is to be called the Run United Philippine Marathon.

Sleepless in Manila: Completing the Run United Trilogy

The “Afroman” distance of 32K was the highlight of last leg of the Run United Trilogy, and to buy time for some leisure runners of this event, the race was held very early at 3AM!  It’s so early that it was a “no-sleep” race for me.

It’s the third day after 2012 Run United 3, and as promised RunRio and Unilab Active Health had furnished the race results with matching RunPix analysis.

Runners Race to Action

Runners race to action is a joint activity initiated by the running community to drive to help communities affected by the recent calamity.  Here’s how you can help:

Everyone is encouraged to donate their old singlets, finisher’s shirts, etc.  Other items including food will also be accepted.  You may bring your donations tomorrow, August 11, or on August 12, 2012 in tents set up in front of Nike / Krispy Kreme in Bonifacio High Street from 10PM to 9PM.

As an added “motivation,” Unilab will be giving corresponding product samples per donation:

  • Singlet : 1 Unilab product sample
  • Finisher/Event Shirt : 2 Unilab product samples

The event is also looking for volunteers, e-mail with the subject Race To Action together with your full name and contact number for more details.
