What is a Score Card? Simply put it is a card designed for athletes and sports-minded persons alike.  Spearheaded by Sports Media Asia (SMA), the country’s premiere sports media and marketing group, it is a card that not only looks cool, it also gives added benefits like discounts to products and services, priority for participation in various sports and retail events affiliated or sponsored by SMA, and an insurance.

Design

The first time I saw the score card I thought it was cool as it looked like military dog tags.  Little did I know that this “cool” card packed additional benefits, aside from good looks.  For functionality it can also serve as an alternative to those expensive road IDs provided that your activity permits you to wear it comfortably.  Warning: it really does attract attention!

Insurance

As active people we tend not to think much about injuries until we actually have them, and it’s not a question of “if” but “when.”  Accidents and injuries are inevitable with our lifestyle and it’s better to be prepared and have a good “support.”  This is where the Score Card comes in—all cardholders who properly register and activate their accounts through the SMA website are covered by a limited Accident Medical Reimbursement (sports-related activities only) for one year effective on the date of registration.  Who wants to get injured anyway? But when it does come you at least know that you can reimburse your medical bills (coverage limit of P20,000).

The Score Card is (Practically) Free?

Discounts!  Aside from the Score Card’s looks, discounts are my favorite aspect of this card.  Form meets function.  With the amazing lineup of perks from partner stores, did you know that the Score Card can be practically free?  Let me give you an example: imagine yourself buying a pair or two of shoes worth P6,000 say from The North Face or Res Toe Run which offers 10% discount to Score Card holders.  You get a discount of P600.  The Score Card costs only P600—your discount practically paid for the cost of the Score Card!  And that’s only an example from stores that offer 10% discount—some merchants offer as much as 50% off their services!  And unlike other discount vouchers that you can only use once, you can use your Score Card as much as you want until its expiry date which is also one year.  You get a card for practically free and an insurance coverage of P20,000—good deal right?

• Brochure: Your Score Card comes with a brochure containing the list of establishments, branches, and their offers.
• Website: The complete and updated list of partner establishments can be found at scorecard.sportsmedia.com.ph/merchants.php
• Signages: All establishments that accept the Score Card will either have door decals or counter top signages that read “Score Card Accepted Here.”

Once you register your Score Card (to also activate your insurance) you have a choice of receiving updates through SMS or email, which is highly recommended for you to avail of downloadable coupons, exclusive promotions, and sports workshops.

The Cause
