Behind the Scenes: adidas Boost

It was exactly a week ago when adidas Energy Boost™ was formally introduced in the local scene and I was one of the lucky few to get a chance to experience adidas’ latest breakthrough.

I definitely never had an invitation quite like this

The introduction was held in adidas’ office in Bonifacio Global City with no less than the head of marketing of adidas Philippines, Adrien Semblat, leading the introduction.

with the new boost (bottom)

Using a steel ball, we witnessed firsthand how the new boost material returns back energy so much more than the EVA foam.  But seeing is not enough: each of us were presented with our own adidas Energy Boost™ pair to actually play with!  Here is a video from adidas to give you an idea of what we saw:

Happiness in a box!  It sure felt like Christmas at the time 😀
Perfect fit!
How thoughtful!  Each box has our own name in it! 🙂
At first glance the boost soles looked like
styropor but the similarities end there
We’re all suited up to test these babies! (Taken in front of the new adidas store in Two Parkade)

We tested our new adidas Energy Boost™ in Track 30th (just across Two Parkade) and let’s admit it, a few hundred meters is not enough to accurately test a shoe, but with this short run I have some observations about the adidas Energy Boost:

  • Lightweight
  • Can be safely and comfortably worn without socks (I ran with it sockless)
  • Fits like a glove for those like me with narrow feet
  • Bouncy
  • No need to “break-in”
No sweat! (Actually, we hardly broke a sweat because of the short distance we ran :P)

I guess we could all agree that adidas Energy Boost™ is a great shoe in terms of comfort, performance, and looks with the downside only of not having other colors to choose from aside from the current black with white and yellow accent (but if you’re willing to wait, more colors will come second half of 2013).  As it is, it seems to be good for those long runs because of its light weight, great cushioning, and bounce.

Some lucky and happy feet 😀

Those who pre-ordered their adidas Energy Boost will be able to pick their pairs starting February 27, 2013 at adidas Two Parkade, Bonifacio Global City.  For those who weren’t able to, what remains of the 200 pairs will be sold later at different adidas stores across the country with a SRP of ₱7,995.

The best thing about completing a run (no matter how short): eating! 😀

Thank you adidas Philippines for giving me the opportunity to be one of the first to try the new adidas Energy Boost™ in the country!  I’m now looking forward to my next long race because I’m so excited to take this pair for a long ride! 😀

Hello gorgeous! 🙂
This is one great shoe that I can’t wait to try out in a long race!
Watch our for my review 🙂
