It was one of those spontaneous series of events that brought me to an unfamiliar corner of Pasig City and into this practically a hole in the wall spot called Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina. And for my first visit, I was definitely impressed. Here’s why.
Just by the name Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina you can already tell what this place serves, and judging by the long queue we had to endure to get in (it was a Saturday night), you have an idea on how popular this place is. Checking out their menu, it was pretty short, and the prices are unbelievably affordable. Looks good to me! And without any further ado, here’s what we had:
Our dinner started with this big servings of really, really good nachos. I do apologize that my pictures here do not at all justify how good looking these foods are (I was using a secondary phone as my iPhone had died on me hours earlier) and it does not begin to describe how delicious they are! I’m not really a fan of nachos, but these are hands down one of the best I’ve tried anywhere! A single order of this satisfied our group of seven (7) so be warned if you’re planning of having this as just an appetizer.
For our main course, we had different courses and all of them came with really generous portions! For instance, their quite surprising pork chop:
I mentioned surprising because not only does it look really heavenly, an order also comes with two pieces of pork chops.
As for myself, I opted for their signature burrito:
It was quite good and it’s conveniently chopped in half as an entire one can be a bit too much since it has rice. If you’re cutting back on rice, consider sharing! 🙂
Overall, Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina is a really pleasant discovery for me and those in our group that experienced it for the first time. Food tastes great, serving size is big, and prices are really affordable. The tables are just really limited so you may have to budget your time and hunger to accommodate the most likely queue.
