If you’ve been dreaming of joining NYC Marathon, now is your chance! There are no more prerequisites to join the race but this is because the event has now gone purely virtual. You can even participate for free!
The actual NYC Marathon 2020 is cancelled but the spirit of the event continues virtually. The event started last Saturday, October 17, 2020 and will continue until November 1. Just as with all virtual races, you’re free to complete the race anytime within the period but unlike other races, you have to complete the entire 26.2 miles (42.192 km) in a single run. Running on treadmills are not supported and you must use Strava to log your run but there is no time limit!
You can join the event for free by signing up for the category “Run for the Love of Running” where you can get a Strava digital finisher badge, among other perks. But if you really want to earn that coveted finisher medal, you can sign up for the category “Run for the Medal” which costs $50 for NYRR members ($60 for non-members). There are also other categories that may give you a guaranteed entry for future events, and events for kids. For more details on the categories and registration, visit nyrr.org/tcsnycmarathon.
With running whenever you want, having no time limit, and even an option to join for free, aren’t you tempted to join?
