The Tokyo Olympics is coming in two days! Is it still appropriate to call it the Tokyo 2020 Olympics?

I can’t imagine how much of logistical nightmare it is, but I think Japan is doing a great service to the games by trying to make it happen despite the world falling out of normalcy. I simply cannot imagine any other country be able to afford these games especially when it’s extended already by a year! It would’ve been a great opportunity for us Filipinos that the Olympics would be held just a few hours away, but the pandemic made it impractical, let alone possible, to travel. And as controversial as the games pushing through despite the worsening pandemic is, I think if anyone can make it happen, it’s the Japanese.

Most of us may not be able to experience the Olympics first hand, but I’m glad that the events would continue. I think as long as the integrity of the safety “bubble” remain intact, it should be OK for all the participants. I look forward to seeing Filipino athletes compete, especially in individual sports like athletics and gymnastics where I believe we have a good chance of getting a medal. I hope that the games push through safely, but it won’t be the end of the world if it gets cancelled for safety.
Thank you for hosting the games and the athletes, Japan! Looking forward to watching the games and may your investments be fruitful in the years to come!
Best of luck to all the athletes! 頑張って!
