Like in the past years, the Lenten Season again brought me around the city of Manila to visit 14 churches. I didn’t deviate much from my Visita Iglesia last year, but I did it this year on a Good Friday.

Visiting multiple churches during Holy Week, also known as Visita Iglesia, had become a tradition of mine for the last few years and this year I had the chance to revisit some of the most beautiful and revered churches in the country. Here are the 14 churches I had visited this Lenten season.

Like many Filipinos, I commemorated this year’s Holy Week with a visit to various churches. I realized that I wasn’t able to do this last year, so this year it’s a must that I outdo the shortcomings of the previous year.
Belated happy Easter! This year I wasn’t able to do any run during Holy Week, and I wasn’t able to do my Visita Iglesia, but this Easter after visiting a nearby church to give thanks, I had thought of doing a quick photowalk and perhaps see at least seven churches along the way.

I recently got myself an interchangeable-lens camera (ILC) in a bid to improve my photography skills and to be familiar with my new gadget in time for my upcoming travel outside the country, I decided to do a photowalk in one of the most picturesque places in the country, the City of Manila. Here are some of the shots that I took, but be forewarned though that this post is a bit heavy on the bandwidth.

Visita Iglesia (Spanish: church visits) is a tradition here in the Philippines of visiting seven churches on Maundy Thursday as penance. Some people expand it to 14 churches with each one representing the Stations of the Cross. For this year I decided to start including this in my Holy Week habit but unfortunately I didn’t know that it should be on a Thursday, so ended up doing it on a Saturday, with an unexpected extra two churches!
