Century Tuna Ironman Philippines 2018 Weekend

One of the weekends that I always look forward to each year is when Century Tuna Ironman is held.  It’s one of the few times in the year where world-class triathletes come to the country and show why they are called “elites” in the sport.  It’s also that time of the year where new Ironmen and Ironwomen are forged.  Here’s my recollection of the historic weekend when the Philippines hosted its first full-distance Ironman.

Nick Baldwin and Liz Blatchford emerge as top finishers of The Century Tuna Ironman Philippines 2018

It was history in the making as the Philippines hosted it’s first-ever full-distance IRONMAN event last weekend in Subic.  Participants came from all over the world and in the end, Seychelles’ Nick Baldwin and Australia’s Liz Blatchford emerged as its first ever champions.

It was an emotional finish for Nick Baldwin (left) as he became the first IRONMAN champion from Seychelles.  On the women’s side, it was Liz Blatchford from Australia that became the first female champion of IRONMAN Philippines.

Team 7-Eleven Philippines Dominate South Korea Race

Team 7-Eleven Philippines dominated the 23rd Jeju International Tourism Marathon Festival held last May 27, 2018 by getting podium finishes in the 21km and 42km categories.  Here’s a quick rundown of the event that transpired.

Biag, Malolot Ruled Inaugural TRI-Factor Asian Championship Series (Philippines)

After the dust had settled, the champions of the inaugural TRI-Factor Asian Championship Series (Philippines) had risen with Billy Biag and Mark Malolot taking the long and standard distances crown, respectively.  Here’s a brief rundown of the event that transpired.

Powerman Philippines 2017 Asian Championships Dominated by Australia and the Philippines

Australia dominated the recently concluded Powerman Philippines Asian Championships when Thomas Bruins and Matt Smith took the top two spots of the Classic distance.  The Philippines’ Miscelle Gilbuena took the crown on the women’s division for the same category.  Here are some more of the highlights:

Team 7-Eleven Philippines Reign in Da Nang International Marathon 2017

Team 7-Eleven Philippines had a successful campaign last weekend at the Da Nang International Marathon when they bagged many of the top spots in the half and full marathon, including championship of the women’s 42K and 21K!  Here are more highlights from the event.
