Today marked the sixteen years that elapsed since this blog was officially launched!

Here are some notable places I’ve visited from the past year.

New York City

New York City was my gateway when I moved on this side on the planet. It’s as exciting and chaotic as I last remembered it!

Washington, D.C.

D.C. is one of the nicest places to visit in the USA as there are lots of museums and parks to visit (mostly free) and mostly within walking distance of each other.

St. Augustine, Florida

St. Augustine lay claim to being the oldest city in the USA and reminded me a lot of our Spanish-era walled forts in the Philippines.

Meta AI

It was also the year I got to revisit generative AI. This time, I got to use Meta AI for Facebook and Instagram.

It started when I noticed the “Create AI image” option in Facebook. It was the start of the Halloween season, so I played around with it to get me a new profile picture. I was impressed the first time it generated that “vampire” image and so I tried other prompts like “me as a superhero” (second image). Eventually, I asked for an image of “me running in Miami”.

Then I noticed a similar option in Instagram when making stories. The generated image was taller and more impressive details. I gave it a sample photo of me smiling and it was able to render it in some images. It could be coincidental, but the “lifeguard” image of me was quite spot on with how I actually looked, especially the chest.

While I wished I could have done more for this blog in the past year, all I can do for now is to thank everyone who still visits this blog.  Thank you for your support!
